Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ to Re-Release In Theatres On Jan 24

Ready to experience the royalty of the Padmavat empire yet again? Well, here’s some good news for all the Padmavat fans!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2018 epic film Padmaavat is all set to re-release in theatres on 24th January 2025.

The news was shared by the makers of the movie today to the PTI news. 

In the movie, Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor play lead roles and it is coming back to theatres on its seventh anniversary.

The story of Padmavati (Padukone), the 13th century, whose beauty and wisdom made her one of the great heroes known as Maharawal Ratan Singh (Kapoor), of Mewar.

When obsessive and ambitious Sultan Alauddin Khilji transports himself from Delhi to Chittor, Padmavati’s kingdom, he wishes to invade to achieve Padmavati but goes to great lengths to protect her kingdom and its values.

The film had been based on Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s Padmavat, which had then caused a big controversy when it was released and a number of Rajput outfits took offense to the portrayal of Queen Padmavati.

Padmaavat joins the growing list of older films re-released in theatres over the past year. Other titles like Laila Majnu, Rockstar, Gangs of Wasseypur, Karan Arjun, Tumbbad, and Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai have also made their way back to the big screen.
