Masaba Gupta was born in 1988 to Indian actress Neena Gupta and West Indies’ ex Cricketer Viv Richards and spent her childhood in Mumbai.
She comes from a single-parent family, her parents never wed and her mother relocated to Mumbai with the family from New Delhi.
It was intimated that Gupta had a chance to live with her late maternal grandfather and when she was twenty she reunited with her father and currently they are very close.

When she was 8 she wanted to become a tennis player but never continued practising when she was 16. Close to dancing and singing, Gupta wanted to join Shiamak Davar’s dancing team but did not when her mother prohibited her from doing so. She then enrolled in a course in music and dance in London but had to drop out when she was overwhelmed by loneliness and homesickness.
Masaba also joined Premlila Vithaldas Polytechnic of SNDT Women’s University. Gupta has said she sometimes experienced racism from other students in her schooling.

Masaba Gupta married Madhu Mantena in 2015. Madhu Mantena is an Indian film producer and entrepreneur. Things didn’t work out between them and they got divorced in 2019.
Masaba then shifted to focus on her career. In the meantime, Satyadeep Mishra came into Masaba’s life, and after some time, the couple got married in 2023. Satyadeep is an Indian actor. The couple announced that they are expecting their first child in April 2024.
