Oscars 2025 Not Cancelled – Film Academy Says The Show Must Go On!

The 2025 Oscars were speculated to be canceled due to the widespread destruction caused by the LA wildfires. A report claimed the prestigious awards may not be held for the first time in its nine-decade history.

However, The Hollywood Reporter has now rubbished these claims. It quoted Academy sources saying that the awards are very much happening.

A week ago, The Sun, a British tabloid, reported that a secret ‘contingency strategy’ was made to cancel this year’s Oscars. “The Oscars may be canceled for the first time in 96 years. The report said, “Star-led Academy Award committees, like Tom Hanks and Emma Stone, are monitoring the situation daily.”

However, The Hollywood Reporter, in a new report, states it has spoken with senior figures at the Academy and close contacts of some A-listers. It can “categorically report that no such plan is being contemplated and no such advisory committee exists.”

The report states that, in 47 days, the Oscars won’t shift. The Academy’s board has decided this.’ The window of nominations for the awards, however, was extended.

The nominees will be now announced on January 23. The Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts & Sciences gives out the Oscars.

Stars On Donating Oscar Revenue To LA Wildfire Victims

All the stars are agreeing on the same ground that the money generated from the Oscars 2025 should be donated to the LA survives.

“Hacks” star Jean Smart posted on Instagram talking about the same. The caption for the post read:
This is a terribly privileged take. How disappointing. Jean, you have been in the business for many, many years. Surely you know how many people below the line rely on this time of year to make the bulk of their income. Hollywood is already suffering. The last thing people need, especially the countless artists who lost their homes, is to also have their work dry up. We can’t all be #1 on the call sheet. There’s still time to delete this.”
