Indian crime drama series Aranyak on Netflix which came in 2021 received a lot of applause for the mystery theme. Vinay Waikul directed this series and provided a good climax to the show. The ending left the viewers on a cliffhanger wanting to know what happened next.
The series is based on the imaginary town named Sironah in the Indian state of Himachal. The main plot of the series involves child rape and murder of one young girl in the person of Aimee.
This event triggers a series of activities that suck different personalities into a pool of lies and mythology. The star cast of the series Aranyak was fantastic on screen where Raveena Tandon and Ashutosh Rana truly justified their roles!
If you are curious to know what happened at the end of Aryanak and was the Leopard man for real, then stick to the post till the end and see how things unfold!
Who Is Aimee?
The series begins with a gruesome find of a young girl’s dead body identified by her name Aimee. She has an unusual claw scratch on her body. The scratch is of a similar image to unsolved cases that occurred nineteen years ago, and this brings life into the story.
This led to the investigation led by local police headed by newly promoted officer Angad Malik and determined policewoman Kasturi.
The audience could get to see another side of the story where we find more about Aimee and her dark side. Julie, the mother who was a drug addict while her boyfriend, Sundar was a drug supplier had come to Sironah with an evil intent.
Discovering that Julie had an affair with Ravi, Aimee’s father, a businessman gives the viewers a new dimension related to blackmail and hidden affairs.
It was then that the scene is changed to Hotel Bom where the crime was committed. In this case, a multitude of characters and their tracks interweave to offer multiple possible villains and reasons.
Two characters involving in Aimee’s story: Kanti, a young man from a powerful local man Jagdamba, and a former scholar Gagan who is out on parole for the rape case. The implication of Ravi and another militant Manhas adds more confusion to the case.
A major twist is occurred when through the semen test they come to know that Gagan is the rapist. This turns the attention to the distinct concerns of untangling what exactly all the different characters in this tragedy are attempting to accomplish.
This revelation brought a twist in the story and exposed the dark secrets of Sironah’s influential figures.
Who Was Leopard Man?
The story of the killing is framed by a mystical narrative of the nar-tendua. It basically translates as ‘half-man, half-leopard’ and is said to hunt at night consuming human blood, especially during a full moon.
And it is this legend of Maharajah’s stone that captures the imagination of Mahadev Dogra, a man who has spent his working life as a head constable. He does so, especially after identifying Aimee’s dead body in a way resembling the previous cases.
Dogra does not stop until he finds Kalidas Mallah, a former hangman and former loyal servant of Jagdamba. The past criminal activities committed by Kalidas or Nandan are exposed.
He did those crimes out of passion or rather obsession in as much as Jagdamba is concerned. In this way, he tries to guard Kanti and take the leopard man myth into the air again officially concealing the murder.

Aranyak ending: Who was behind Aimee’s murder?
The final episode of the series links both the unraveling of the mystery of who killed Aimee with the unmasking of the leopard-man.
As the police investigate the murder and link Gagan to the raping of the woman apart from being killed by Manhas’s men. They point to the disconnected and often immoral times of the Sironah-privileged society.
I found Dogra’s story to be very enlightening about how people in the world today continue to develop myths for them to believe in so as to explain the incidences of violence that would otherwise seem unreasonable.
As such, the series ends preparing the audience for more of what is to be explored. The introduction of ‘Rabbit,’ Angad’s long-lost son, who is now entangled in the world of drug dealers, hints at unresolved threads and potential new stories.
Will There Be Aranyak Sesaon 2?
The fact that Angad’s son Rabbit introduced the end as kidnapped by Omi’s gang. He was code name Rabbit because he was kidnapped to kidnap Angad and while in school, he acted as a rabbit for a play.
Though Angad struggled in searching for any other traces of his son, ‘Rabbit’ left home, and ended up living with drug dealers and getting acquainted with the drug business at a time too.
All this hints toward Aranyak Season 2! Let’s wait for official confirmation from the makers!
