Is Hisaab Barabar Based On A True Story?

While Hisaab Barabar is not based on a specific real event, it is inspired by real-life situations where banks have overlooked small errors, which, when looked at on a larger scale, result in big financial problems. It’s inspired by a similar incident that took place in Malaysia. It revolved around a man named Aman Shah, also known as One Cent Thief.

His story also inspired a show in 2022 called One Cent Thief, which portrayed how a man stole small amounts just one cent from multiple bank accounts to build up a large sum of money.

He might never have been caught if not for his flashy lifestyle and his public admission of a love for luxury cars. While One Cent Thief tells the story from the thief’s point of view, Hisaab Barabar focuses on the person who exposes the scam.

The amounts in question are tiny, so they do not lead to the kind of major scandals shown in the film. Filmmakers often create freedom to present a clearer narrative with a hero and villain. In the case of Hisaab Barabar, the scam shown represents many similar incidents happening daily.

Since the trailer for the film was released on YouTube, many viewers have commented about their own experiences with scams that were similar to what happens in the movie.

According to the latest post of Zee5, the movie collected over 120+ mn watch minutes on the Zee5 OTT platform. This huge viewership is indeed a testament to its popularity amongst the audiences.
