The Madhya Pradesh girl who gained viral renown through selling garlands at Maha Kumbh has secured an opportunity to launch her acting career at age 16.
Director Sanoj Mishra announced that the movie “Diary of Manipur” features Monalisa Bhonsle. His previously directed movies are “Ghaznavi”, “Srinagar”, “Shashank” and “Diary of West Bengal”.
The film represents a love story and Bhonsle will take the role of one of two main female characters.
When asked about the decision to choose Monalisa for his upcoming project, Director Sanoj Mishra replied:
“I visited the residence of Monalisa where I befriended her and her entire family. Monalisa will begin working on my film because her guardians approved the film’s appearance. Bhonsle, who lives in Maheshwar, about 100 km from Indore gained so much fame at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj where she went to sell Rudraksha garlands.

The beautiful combination of her amber eyes plus radiant smile earned her the popular nickname of “Mona Lisa” among numerous online followers.
The abrupt interest in her brought forth various new obstacles. Sources uncovered her experience of being harassed at the Kumbh Mela which caused her family to return her home because it was unsafe.
According to Mishra, she accepted the lack of acting experience as a motivational factor going forward.
The director also talked about training Monalisa through acting workshops. After the training, the film shooting will begin in April.
Monalisa’s videos went viral on social media as people were fascinated by her raw beauty. She came to Mahakumbh to sell garlands along with her family, where she became a social media sensation overnight.
